Bowl Boot Camp with Diane Sanfilippo

$200.00

August 3rd, 9am-4pm with a short break for lunch

You've thrown bowls before, but can you sit down and throw the shapes you want to throw, reliably, any time you want to? This workshop will take you there with key tips and strategies.

In this form-focused workshop with Diane Sanfilippo, we'll throw bowls of various sizes and types to improve your efficiency (stop over-working and flopping your clay), pull even walls, and learn to move the clay where you want it effectively.

We'll begin with technique for throwing smaller, basic bowls (for soup, ice cream, etc.), then move on to low/wide pasta bowls, then larger mixing bowls with spouts, nested mixing bowls, and a large countertop / serving bowl.

This workshop is great for beginner-intermediate levels. Participants should have some pottery wheel experience and be very comfortable with centering clay and throwing forms on the wheel.

Students will throw anywhere from 1 to 5 pound bowls depending on your ability and learn how to be intentional with your clay. Be prepared to cut open most of your pieces— this hands-on approach accelerates learning by revealing exactly what's happening inside your forms.

Join us for a skill-boosting, clay-maximizing session that will help you throw bowls more intentionally and refine your technique faster than ever.
